About the Northern Beaches

The Northern Beaches has spectacular beaches and bushland areas. Many families are attracted to its family-friendly facilities which include good sporting areas, community orientated schools and beach activities.

In terms of finding somewhere to live there is a wide range of housing to choose from. Single dwelling houses are well proportioned and many of them have pools. Such houses are located in Belrose, Frenchs Forest and surrounding areas closer to the beach there is mixture of both apartment and houses.

The Northern Beaches has ample shopping facilities with many local shopping centres and major retailers at Warringah Mall, Warriewood and Chatswood Shopping Centres.

Schools, Pre-Schools and Childcare

There are many good community orientated Public (state) , Catholic and Independent (private) schools.  If you wish your child to attend a local State (public) school you will likely need to live within the school zone (catchment area).

Some Independent Schools may not be able to offer you a place straight away. Coming to view a school in advance and initially enrolling your child before you move is sometimes an advantage.

All of the schools in the Northern Beaches area are are of a High National Standard and easy to reach. Active participation by parents is welcomed and many of the local schools have a strong connection to their community.

There are many pre-schools and childcare facilities but demand completely outstrips supply in many areas of the Northern Beaches. Places can be hard to come by and we advise you to wait list your child in as many places as you can as early as possible.

We have informative e-books on the Australian School system that can be purchased for immediate down load from our online resources page.

Surroundings

local northern beaches beach

Of course it goes without saying that there are wonderful beach activities on the Northern beaches whilst a few kilometres inland there are quiet bushland and wetland areas great for walking in and observing the local flora and fauna. Almost all of the different suburbs have active sporting clubs ( e.g cricket, soccer, rugby, netball) for children and adults to participate in. There are several good Gyms and swimming facilities.
